As a Senior Software Engineer, you independently deliver complex features on schedule. You write easily maintainable code, contribute to reviews, and steadily improve team quality and velocity. You mentor other engineers and collaborate closely with Product, and Design to turn clear requirements into scalable, reliable, and maintainable production software.

An average day may include leading technical discussions (both written asynchronously and verbal synchronously), reviewing code from colleagues, and troubleshooting critical and urgent issues. You’ll work closely with product managers and cross-functional teams to promote technical excellence. You’ll contribute thoughtful opinions on both code performance and user experience. You have an openness to understanding BibleProject’s content and paradigm for approaching the Bible so that you can help us achieve our mission.

You’ll help architect and maintain our shared platform services such as eventing, authentication, payment processing, and user activity using a federated GraphQL service layer, enabling seamless delivery to our app and website across multiple languages. You’ll also speak into infrastructure strategy and design, enabling a quality developer experience for other engineers who contribute to our technology products.

To be successful, you need to be a self-organized and motivated software engineer with strong opinions on performance, scaling, code organization & quality, and developer experience along with the exceptional technical skills to back them up. We’re looking for a top-tier engineer who can adapt to their current context quickly, learning and applying past experiences to the current work. This is an opportunity to apply your skills toward building elegant systems, and some of the best work of your career.
